In the 100th volume of this journal, the author examines the results of ´theology´s service to the church, which was how Julius Kaftan described itin the first essay of the journal´s first volume. It is the purpose of theology to provide orientation for the church and to impart the basic insights of Christian faith within the context of general education in order to counteract the religious rootlessness of civilization. A journal ´for theology and the church´ is committed to communicable scholarly work and the development of theories which will encourage the essential exchangeof ideas between academic theology and church life and counteract the ´dislike for theology´.
