Abendland und Apokalypse die "Ökumene des Hasses" und das Verhältnis der letzten zu den vorletzten Dingen
Zeitschriftenartikel

Despite the debate about "ecumenism of hate" (Spadaro) in the United States and general fear of Islam, there is a lack of theological analysis of new alliance between catholic integralism and evangelical fundamentalism. This article focusses on tensions between main-line churches and sects in Europe and the United States and examines apocalyptic thought during Reformation, Enlightenment and modern times in order to identify current challenges. To tackle apocalyptic agenda in geopolitics of 21st century theologically, the author proposes a re-lecture of the differentiation between "ultimate and penultimate things" (Dietrich Bonhoeffer). This requires both self-criticism and commitment to ecumenical understanding, which could lead to a rejuvenation of political culture.
