Today there are many on regarding the definitions of and relations between different actors in the church, whereby often the related discourses are ignored. A tendency for reduction to the classic debate on the relations between the common priesthood and the ordained ministry can be observed, which ignores a theological reflection about the modern phenomena of volunteering and professionalism. The article proposes a four-fold plan for describing relationships, and discusses how understanding can be improved.
