Neu A Strange Land alttestamentliche Ethik beiderseits von Ärmelkanal und Atlantik
Zeitschriftenartikel

The article discusses some of the main problems connected with the programme of Old Testament Ethics. It starts with the hermeneutical question how far or how near the "strange land" of the Old Testament is for modern readers. It then discusses Old Testament ethics as a (re)construction of the implicit ethics of the Hebrew Bible. It goes on to the question of the unity of the ethics of the Old Testament which is found in the canon. The canon is defined not as a unified theological position, but as a space of discourse. This leads immediately to the question how the Old Testament can be used in the discourses of modern societies on their actual moral problems. The stress of the whole article lies on the presentation of British, North American and Australian works on Old Testament Ethics for the German public.
